M. Sgt. Marion Stallard Allen, 60, of the Independence community on Attica Route 3, was found dead Thursday (Sept. 21, 1972) by a newspaper carrier. It is believed that he had died in his residence about 8 a.m. He had been ill for several years. Sgt. Allen resided alone. Warren County Coroner Harold Brazzell said death was attributed to natural causes. Born March 14, 1912, in Danville Ill., he was the son of Ray H. and Lucy M. Wagner Allen. He had resided most of his life in Independence, but also had resided in Las Vegas, Nev. He was a career military man, having served in the Army 21 years. He had worked in Washington, D.C., on special service and had been employed by CA and NS Railroad. He was a member of Riverview United Methodist Church in Independence. Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Lucy Allen, and a sister, Emma Elizabeth Allen, both of Las Vegas; and a brother Wilbur Ray Allen of Maryland.
